The Assago Forum Milan: temple of music and entertainment

The Assago Forum, also known as Unipol Forum (although many still call it Mediolanum Forum), is much more than just an arena: it is an icon, a landmark for culture and entertainment in the Milan metropolitan area. Located in Assago, south-west of Milan, this imposing complex has hosted a myriad of events over the years, from the wildest rock concerts to the most refined theatrical performances, from sports competitions to international congresses. Its 30-year history is studded with memorable moments that have made the hearts of millions of spectators vibrate.

A stage for music legends

One of the events that marked the Forum’s history was Frank Sinatra’s epoch-making concert in 1991. Since then, the Unipol Forum stage has seen dozens of names that certainly need no introduction.

Unmissable events for all tastes

But the Unipol Forum is not only synonymous with concerts. Over the years, the venue has been able to diversify its offer, becoming a venue capable of hosting a wide range of events that go well beyond music. Among the big open-air events, one of the best known is certainly the Latinoamericando Festival, a celebration of Latin American culture that attracts thousands of people every year.

A great venue for family shows

The Unipol Forum is also an ideal venue for families. Extraordinary shows have been presented here, enchanting adults and children alike. Cirque du Soleil, with its incredible acrobatics and magical stories, has made several stops at the Forum, bringing with it the fascination of the modern circus. Even David Copperfield, the world’s most famous magician, chose this venue for his shows full of mystery and wonder.

Disney shows have found the Unipol Forum a perfect home. Events such as ‘Disney on Ice’ transformed the arena into an enchanted world where the most beloved characters come to life on ice. In addition, the ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’ show offered a unique experience, transporting the audience back in time to the era of prehistoric giants.

State-of-the-art facility attracts world-class events

The Unipol Forum is not only famous for the artists it hosts, but also for the quality of the venue itself. With a capacity of more than 12,000 seats and a parking area for 5500 cars, the arena is designed to guarantee excellent visibility from all angles. Acoustic quality is another strong point of the Forum, ensuring that every note is perfectly audible throughout the arena.

Accessibility and services

Located in the Assago area, on the outskirts of Milan, the Unipol Forum is easily accessible both by car and public transport. It is well connected to the motorway network and has ample parking facilities for those arriving by car. For those who prefer public transport, the M2 line of the Milan underground has a stop right next to the arena.

Inside the Forum, visitors can find a wide range of services to make their experience even more enjoyable. There are numerous refreshment stations where a variety of food and drinks can be enjoyed before the show or during breaks. In addition, there are areas dedicated to artist merchandise, where fans can purchase exclusive souvenirs and memorabilia.

Calendar full of events

The event calendar at the Unipol Forum is always rich and varied, offering something for all tastes. In addition to concerts and family shows, the arena also hosts high-level sporting events, such as basketball matches and mixed martial arts tournaments. In addition, the Forum is often chosen as a venue for corporate conferences and international trade fairs, thanks to its versatility and modern facilities.

A success story that began in 1990

The history of the Assago Forum began in 1990, when it was inaugurated as the ‘Palatrussardi’. It immediately stood out for its innovative architecture and its ability to host large events. In 1994, the project won the prestigious European Architecture Prize for Sports Facilities, an award that underlines its importance on a continental level.

Over the years, the Forum has changed its name several times, going from Fila Forum to DatchForum, to Mediolanum Forum, to the current Unipol Forum. But what has never changed is its ability to attract world-class artists and offer the public unforgettable experiences.

Legendary concerts that made history

The Assago Forum is particularly famous for hosting some of the most memorable concerts in music history. Its walls have trembled to the sound of the guitars of legends such as David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, U2, Rolling Stones, Metallica and many others. But not only rock: the Forum has also welcomed pop, rap, electronic and all kinds of music artists, offering a variety of shows to suit all tastes.

Among the most iconic concerts held at the Assago Forum, it is impossible not to mention:

  • Pink Floyd (1994): the legendary British band enchanted audiences with an unforgettable show, part of their world tour ‘The Division Bell’.
  • Michael Jackson (1997): the King of Pop stopped at the Forum during his ‘History World Tour’, giving fans an extraordinary performance.
  • Madonna (2001): the Queen of Pop, who is often in Italy, set the Forum stage ablaze with her ‘Drowned World Tour’, a transgressive and provocative show.
  • Coldplay (2012): the famous London band brought their ‘Mylo Xyloto’ tour to the Forum, a show full of colours, lights and emotions.
  • Beyoncé (2016): The American superstar made a stop at the Forum during her ‘The Formation World Tour’, a powerful and engaging show.

These are just a few examples of the many extraordinary concerts that have made the Assago Forum a cult venue for music lovers.
