Milan Fashion Week September 2025: a historic edition between tributes and debuts
Milan Fashion Week in September 2025 will take place from 23 to 29 September, presenting the Spring-Summer 2026 collections for women’s fashion. This edition promises to be particularly significant, characterised by important creative debuts and a moving tribute to Giorgio Armani.
The tribute to Giorgio Armani
The most emotional element of this Fashion Week will be the tribute to Giorgio Armani, who passed away on 4 September 2025. The Armani Group‘s fashion shows have been confirmed: Emporio Armani will be held on Thursday 25 September at 3pm at the Armani Teatro in Via Bergognone, while Giorgio Armani will close Fashion Week on Sunday 28 September at 7pm at the Pinacoteca di Brera. These will showcase the latest collections designed personally by the designer.
In addition, the 50th anniversary exhibition of the Maison Armani at the Pinacoteca di Brera is confirmed to open to the public on Wednesday 24 September. It is an exhibition personally curated by Armani up to the last days of his life.
A global event with an Italian heart
Milan Fashion Week is more than just a fashion show; it is one of the four most important events in the world, along with New York, London and Paris. Organised by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, each year it attracts over 100,000 visitors from all over the world, generating a turnover of almost 200 million euros. Milan, a city already famous for its ability to welcome tourists and travellers, is transformed into the global fashion hub during these six days of fashion shows and events.
The most awaited debuts
This edition marks the arrival of new creative directors at some of the most prestigious maisons:
- Demna from Gucci: she will present her first collection on Tuesday 23 September at 7pm
- Dario Vitale from Versace: will make his debut with an intimate event
- Louise Trotter from Bottega Veneta: first défilé on Saturday 27 September
- Simone Bellotti at Jil Sander: debut on Wednesday 24 September at 10:30 am
Also returning to the calendar are brands such as Stella Jean, The Attico, Boss and Blumarine, the latter with new creative director David Koma.

- CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards 2025: public event at Teatro alla Scala on Saturday 27 September, dedicated to sustainable fashion
- Galleria d’Arte Moderna (GAM): events, vernissages and screenings open to the public
- Quadrilatero della Moda: art installations, temporary stores and presentations with free admission

In the Brera and Quadrilatero districts, galleries and historic spaces will host pop-ups and temporary installations, often with free admission.
The context of the sector
This Fashion Week comes at a delicate moment for the Italian fashion industry. In the first half of 2025, turnover was down -3.6% compared to the previous year. Although exports maintained their €88 billion and the trade balance remained positive (+€12 billion), there was a decrease of €3 billion compared to 2024. Retail sales of clothing and shoes are weak, making this Fashion Week even more strategic for the revival of the sector.
Milan Fashion Week in September 2025 therefore presents itself as a crucial moment, capable of acting as a beacon in a scenario of global uncertainty, while celebrating the legacy of one of the greatest masters of Italian fashion.
Appointments open to the public
For those without an exclusive invitation, Milan Fashion Week offers events that are accessible to all. The Fashion Hub at Palazzo Giureconsulti presents panel discussions and emerging designers, with fashion shows projected on maxi-screens. In addition:
- Art installations: In the heart of the Fashion Quadrilateral, free access to discover installations and temporary stores.
- CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards: Saturday 27 September at Teatro alla Scala, an evening dedicated to sustainable fashion with awards for craftsmanship, circular economy and young talent.
- Events at the Gallery of Modern Art (GAM): Vernissage and screenings open to the public.
The sustainable side of fashion
This year a special focus is on sustainability. The CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards 2025 is not only an awards event, but also a celebration of sustainable innovations in the fashion industry. Brands and designers are committed to going down greener paths, making style a synonym for environmental responsibility.
In a moment of remembrance and celebration, Milan Fashion Week 2025 shows how fashion can be a bridge between culture and innovation. Between catwalks paying homage to departed designers and rising design stars, Milan reaffirms its unique status in the global fashion scene, not only as a style capital, but as a pioneer of a more sustainable approach.
Milan Fashion Week is not only reserved for insiders; in fact, there are a large number of events and initiatives that allow everyone to experience the fashion week as an outsider as well, making the experience accessible to a wider audience.
